Senior Advisor, PMP Strategy
Speaker Profile
Richard Knowlton is a Senior Advisor for PMP Strategy, with 30 years’ experience providing innovative approaches in the Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) sectors. Most recently, he held the role of Managing Director and Chairman of TMT Americas at Société Générale New York. While there, Richard spearheaded the development of a comprehensive TMT sector strategy, integrating large-cap coverage, financial sponsor engagement, digital infrastructure, M&A, securitization, and distribution.
Richard’s experience in digital infrastructure started with financing wireless and cable overbuilders. He structured and executed and helped syndicate a greenfield FTTH transaction with no minimum volume commitment, structured OpCo/HoldCo financings in metro enterprise fiber, and pioneered Société Générale's first datacenter transaction in the early 2000s.
Throughout his career, Richard delivered innovative approaches to complex financial transactions. He formed an internal joint venture with the infrastructure team to deliver groundbreaking hybrid financing structures for digital infrastructure, including data centers and fiber networks. His strategic insights were pivotal in executing the first successfully syndicated cell tower ground lease transaction and a multi-layer, investment-grade financing for digital cinema rollouts. His structures secured first-time issuer ratings with a focus on deconsolidation and insulated subsidiary status.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University and a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business
